How Should I Prepare Mazuri?

You can serve moistened or dry. For babies and young Russian tortoises, it is easier to soak the pellets in water. It’s easier for smaller tortoises to eat the pellets moistened. Only add enough water to cover the pellets. Too much water and you’ll see floaties in the water. The floaties are nutrients that have leached out of the pellets and into the water.

Mazuri Tortoise Diet (5M21) is the original formula for tortoises. The pellets measure about 1/2-inch x 3/4-inch. This tortoise pellet contain a high-fiber, natural vitamin E and a natural source of antioxidants.

This tortoise pellet has a lot of corn and soybean in the ingredients, making it 100% unimpressive. But, those who have tried Mazuri have found it a valuable part of a varied diet.

Mazuri Tortoise LS Diet

Mazuri Tortoise LS Diet (5E5L) is a low starch formula with the same high-fiber content as the original formula. The pellets are smaller than the original formula, measuring about 1/4-inch x 1/2-inch.

Some tortoises prefer the original Mazuri, but if you continue to offer the LS, the tortoise will eventually start to eat it. You can soak it in rose hip water or add dried flowers to get the tortoise to eat Mazuri Tortoise LS Diet.

Mazuri Tortoise LS pellets have less corn and soybean. The main ingredient in low starch Mazuri is ground timothy hay. It also contains vitamin A, natural vitamin E and live probiotics.
